About Jorge Zavala
My name is Jorge Zavala and I believe in justice, the peoples’ voice, and a strong sense of community.
I am a son, a husband, a father, a brother, an educator, an advocate, and a believer in the rights of the people. I grew up on Chicago’s north side and attended St. Vincent’s Elementary in Lincoln Park. Throughout my high school experience at Lane Tech College Prep, I received the opportunity to travel to different parts of the city with the varsity football team. Not only was I fortunate to play with some of the best high school athletes in the city, but I became more aware of what Chicago has to offer. While living, working, and studying medicine at the Morelia University School of Medicine in central Mexico, I became very interested in helping others. My passion for people and community go hand in hand with my interests in community-development, advocacy, and politics. A fervid passion for education and policy allowed me to become interested in pursuing my administrative degree from DePaul University while additionally taking courses at Concordia University. My wife and children inspire me to help those in need while developing socially-conscious ways of improving peoples’ lives.
Cook County is a beautiful space that caters to diverse needs and interests. Having always worked with a diverse group of constituents, I am well-aware of the city’s accomplishments as well as the things we need to manage more efficiently.
My background in medicine (allopathic, homeopathic, organic), education, public administration, business management and administration, real estate, and natural sciences allows me to understand and make sense of our surroundings so as to provide the best for all those involved.
I am currently running for Treasurer of Cook County, Illinois and hope that you are interested in sparking a conversation.
